CNEEC delegation, Director of International Project, Shirley Huang, Education Officer, Sophie Jin, and Administration Officer, Lyndon Lin visited University of Fraser Valley in Abbotsford, BC, on January 18, 2011. UFV Canada-China Liaison, Betty Wang, and Peter Zhang met the delegates at UFV International.
Shirley Huang introduces the curriculum of the General Study Program, and the students’ general information. Betty is impressed by the 10 year GSP program, and show her interest in welcoming the GSP students to University of Fraser Valley. The delegates have learned that, University of Fraser Valley is one of the seven newly upgraded universities of BC province, with the enrolment of more than 14,000 per year. It has earned ‘most satisfied students, quality of education, and teaching’ in the small universities category in the 2010 Globe and Mail Canadian University Report. It also provides two writing centres and a math centre where students may get free help, which is crucial service to international students. It is agreed that the GSP students may be interested in most of the business programs and science programs offered by UFV.
After the meeting, Betty shows UFV campus to the delegation, and the delegates are impressed by the University facility and residence. Located at the friendly Abbotsford community, UFV proves to be a good environment for international students, both academically and culturally.
